Neglected pets receive new lease on life at Heaven of Hope
Heaven of Hope Animal Rescue is changing the lives of neglected and abandoned animals through care, rehabilitation, and rehoming in Krugersdorp West.
Heaven of Hope Animal Rescue is a local non-profit organisation dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming vulnerable animals that have been abandoned, neglected, or left without care.
Shelter director Twanette Lawson explained that they rescue numerous types of animals, including kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs without homes.
“Many arrive injured, starving, sick, or deeply traumatised. With veterinary care, rehabilitation, and compassion, we help them heal and begin their journey toward safety and love,” she said.
When they rescue an animal, they provide:
• veterinary treatment
• nutritional support
• rehabilitation and socialisation
• sterilisation and vaccinations
• safe shelter and daily care

Where possible, animals are placed in loving forever homes. For animals who cannot be adopted due to illness, disability, or trauma, Heaven of Hope becomes their permanent sanctuary.
“Here they will always be safe, cared for, and loved. Through rehabilitation, proper nutrition, and patient care, we help these animals recover physically and emotionally so they can live safe, healthy, and happy lives,” she added.
She said their mission is simple: Every animal deserves compassion, dignity and a second chance at life.
She explained that she does this work because it changes animals’ lives.
Many of the animals they rescue arrive either sick, injured, malnourished, or deeply traumatised.
“Some have never known kindness. Some were left behind when families moved away. Others were simply unwanted. But when they arrive at Heaven of Hope Rescue, their story begins to change. Here they are given what every living being deserves – safety, compassion and the chance to heal,” she continued.
Twanette said there are many ways residents can support their mission, including monthly sponsorships, financial donations and pet food contributions.
