Krugersdorp’s story comes alive in KHA’s new podcast series
Residents can now experience the history of Krugersdorp in a new way, with the Heritage Association's podcast offering an entertaining journey through the town's past.
With podcasts growing in popularity in recent years, the Krugersdorp Heritage Association (KHA) has joined the trend by launching its first podcast.
On June 13, the KHA released the first episode of the Krugersdorp Heritage Association Podcast, titled Pilot. The episode explores the very beginning of Krugersdorp, although, according to KHA co-founder Jaco Mattheyse, it is not the beginning most people would expect.
“When you think about the start of Krugersdorp, you might think of a small mining town. However, our first episode goes back millions of years to explore the literal beginning of the area’s geographic history,” he explained.
Jaco said the podcast series will chronologically trace the history of Krugersdorp, from its earliest origins through to the present day.
“It is a great way for residents to experience history in an entertaining format on a different platform. You can listen to it anytime, anywhere,” he said.
He encouraged the community to tune in, adding that a great deal of effort went into producing the podcast, including the use of special sound effects.
Jaco concluded that the podcast is available on Spotify and expressed his hope that it will be a great success.
