Fatal R563 crash near Hekpoort claims 2 lives

Emergency services responded to a devastating head-on collision on the R563, where two people lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries.

A head-on collision on the R563 towards Hekpoort claimed the lives of two people on Friday night, July 31.

According to Mogale Fire and Rescue station officer Jaco van der Westhuizen, emergency services received the call at 20:23. Upon arrival, responders found two people critically injured, one person seriously injured, while two others had already been declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Numerous emergency responders attended the scene, including Station 38 Fire, ambulance services and towing personnel. Van der Westhuizen said the response by all emergency services ran smoothly.
