Jubileum Day Care celebrated Mandela Day by supporting a local organisation dedicated to caring for rescued animals.

The daycare centre donated pet food parcels to Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora), a non-profit shelter that cares for hundreds of rescued dogs and cats. The organisation is well known in the local community for its adoption drives, outreach programmes and fundraising initiatives.

According to principal Janine Foord, parents and learners rallied behind the initiative by donating several bags of food for dogs and cats, as well as toys for the animals.

Fora provides a quality-of-life shelter for approximately 350 unwanted dogs and 150 cats. The animals are dewormed, vaccinated and sterilised, and receive any necessary veterinary care, along with a warm bed and nutritious food.

According to Fora’s website, the organisation also educates pet owners about the importance of sterilisation and the dangers of illegal breeding. It regularly partners with other animal welfare organisations to host public microchipping and vaccination drives, offering affordable R50 microchips to help pet owners protect their animals.
