Firewalking workshop focuses on overcoming mental barriers

Ready to face your fears? Take on a firewalking challenge at one of two workshops.

Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) Advisor from Monument is inviting residents to test their mental alignment by walking across a path of hot coals during an upcoming firewalking workshop.

Co-ordinator Ame Harmse said the experience is designed to address psychological barriers.

“Before you walk, we prepare and show participants that the thing standing between them and the fire was never the heat, but the doubt, hesitation and the voice that’s been telling you what you can’t do for as long as you can remember,” Harmse said.

“Then the coals come down, the path is raked, and one by one you step forward with our facilitators beside you the whole way.

“In those few seconds, participants confront the fear head-on and prove you can overcome it, release the pain and limiting beliefs you’ve been carrying, and step off the other side renewed, resilient and unbreakable.”

Organisers emphasised that participation is voluntary, though the experience leaves a lasting impact on those who complete it.

Upcoming workshops

The first session takes place on Saturday, September 5 from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Black Horse Brewery & Distillery, 32 Zeekoeihoek Road, Magaliesburg.

The second session will be held on Saturday, September 12 at Vat ‘n Biki from 17:30 to 19:00.
