A Garden of Opportunity for Fochville learners
A local business committee is helping high school learners gain hands-on agricultural and entrepreneurial skills.
The Mogale City Business Committee (MBC) donated vegetable seeds and gardening tools to Thuto Kitso Engineering School SOS: Mining and Agriculture in Fochville on September 10.
The handover formed part of the build-up to the school’s official launch.
The donation forms part of the committee’s One School One Garden Initiative, which seeks to support schools in establishing productive vegetable gardens while creating opportunities for practical learning, food production, skills development, environmental awareness and entrepreneurship.
MBC chairperson Gideon Phiri said the donation aims to give learners practical exposure to vegetable production and sustainable gardening, while strengthening links between education, agriculture, food security and entrepreneurship.
