St Ursula’s learners take guests back in time

St Ursula’s High School invited the community to travel back in time to the 1920s with them. Attendees were treated to a four-course meal, lively entertainment and an interactive murder mystery, of course.

The guests were transported to Cliff Manor for its owner’s birthday gala on Friday, July 29. Music filled the air while a group of 20s dancers entertained the crowd.

The cast interacted with the guests as they embarked on solving the mysterious murders of their friends after enjoying the butternut soup served for starters. The play was well put together and ensured each guest had something to ponder throughout the evening.

The crowd laughed and played along as each scene ended with applause. Victor Gomes, a Grade 12 learner at St Ursula’s wrote the screenplay, directed it and had a role in the play.

Learners from all grades got the opportunity to audition for a role in the piece.

This was a learner-driven production and the children planned everything. They made sure every part of the production was attended to and ready for the evening,” explained Reinet Barnard.

“I am so grateful to everyone who helped make the night a reality,” said Victor as he stood on stage for the final bow.
