Enter contest to show you care about animals

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) invites all Gauteng primary schools to show their support for animal welfare by entering the AACL Johannesburg Annual Poster Challenge for 2022.

The countdown has begun for the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) Johannesburg’s Annual School Poster and Poetry Competition.

According to Johann Steenkamp, Education Officer at AACL, “All primary school learners in Gauteng are reminded to show their support for the welfare of animals by entering the AACL Jhb’s School Poster and Poetry Competition 2022. The closing date is October 28.”

Participants are invited to enter the challenge as follows:

Draw/ paint pictures and compose poems to present ways in which people show compassion and kindness to animals, care for them, and affect their lives in positive ways.

A good poster/ poem grabs the attention and has a message! Remember a slogan or title may also help to make the message clear.

Your original pictures may be in any medium such as paint/ pastel/ ink/ crayon on either A2, A3 or A4 paper, not framed or folded. No electronic entries will be accepted. Be as creative as possible, and keep your poster bold, striking and original, and have fun!

Your original poems may be in any style in any of the 11 official languages and between four and 16 lines. Be careful, copyright laws apply, so do not copy! Electronic entries are welcome.

Remember to clearly print on your picture/ poem:
• Your name and surname
• Your age
• Entry category (1/ 2/ 3/ 4) and your school grade
• School’s name and telephone number of your parent(s)/ the school

You may enter a maximum of two pictures/ poems. A small (or big) donation will be much appreciated when entering, and will help the AACL JHB in their work of caring and protecting animals. The posters of the top finalists and winners will be exhibited on the AACL Johannesburg Facebook page and the prizewinners will also be announced on Facebook and individually contacted by November/ December 2022.
