KHS class of 1972 celebrates 50-year reunion

It was back to school for Krugersdorp High School's class of 1972 when they held their reunion recently.

Krugersdorp High School (KHS) welcomed back the class of 1972 for their 50th reunion on Friday, September 9.

The women and men spent the day back at school, and attended the school assembly followed by tea with Principal Ivan Bailey.

According to KHS marketing director Lauren Jooste-Coetsee, Marion Fowler, the organiser of the event had spent many months liasing with Leone Pienaar, Chairlady of the KHS Foundation and her peers from her year, organising a fun-filled day of festivities.

Ada Nelson, one of the English teachers from their matric group as well as past learners travelled from all parts of the country and from as far as the UK to attend the reunion. After tea the past learners were taken on a tour around the school which has exponentially grown and changed since they had matriculated.

“The group was welcomed into multiple classrooms, had a walk down memory lane in the residences and visited the school’s Museum. It turned out to be a wonderful day as the past and present learners met one another and compared notes of what it was like in days gone by, and what it is like to be a part of the school these days.

“There were many correlations but the most prevalent was the passion for KHS.”
