Curro Primary wows audience at revue
With feedback such as 'Exceptional event! Quality production! Spectacular show!', Curro Krugersdorp Independent School brought back the “good times” with their Primary School Revue.
Curro Krugersdorp Independent School turned back the clock to the good old days with their 2022 Primary School Revue.
Held over five nights on August 30 and 31, as well as September 1, 6 and 7, the performances were pure magic.
Organiser Carina Coetzee explained that the revue focused on bringing back the “good times” and their memories for some laughter and to enjoy each other’s company, especially after Covid-19.

“If I could turn back time transported the audience to a time when things were perhaps simpler. They enjoyed music from different decades moving from the 1950s all the way to current music and songs.
They rocked around the clock with Bill Haley & His Comets and danced along to Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran. The goal of this lighthearted event was to bring back the good times for parents and concert-goers, and also to create new memories for learners, teachers, and parents to cherish.
“We focused on music through the decades. At the beginning of the show, the question was asked: ‘Where were you when some of these songs were hits?’ The turning of the clock’s hands mimicked the ‘turning back of time’ to a medley of international and local hits relevant to that particular decade.”
And who were all part of the magical adventure? All the primary school learners and even teachers.

Coetzee said the staff’s performance in particular gave the learners and the crowd a good laugh, together with the more than 700 learners who crossed the stage each night.
Our principal, Harry Bateman performed of one of Pavarotti’s infamous songs La Donna È Mobile, giving everyone a good laugh. The Grade 7’s then gave a memorable final performance and brought the house down each night as they danced to modern songs like Jerusalema.”
In conclusion Wright said, “Most people would view a revue as a fundraiser for schools and although true, Curro Krugersdorp’s focus was to give learners, young and old, a memorable time – one that they can look back on when times are tough. A revue is not only about having fun but also a learning curve. Learners learned how to dance, work as a team, and communicate with each other in a unique way. After the past few years, it was refreshing to see learners laugh, play, sing, dance, and giggle as they took the stage each night. It was also important to introduce all the learners to the performing arts.”

“I think it is a massive challenge to keep the concert time within two hours. The organisers did well showing all the kids and giving them the opportunity to shine. Loved the music. Wanted to join all grades on stage to dance with them. Kids had lovely energy and we felt it in the audience.” – Nedean Arangies.
