WATCH: Welcome to Curro Primary, grade 1s of 2023

Curro Krugersdorp Primary School in Rangeview welcomed parents, but more importantly their VIPs, the 2023 grade 1 learners.

With little feet running around and parents racing after them shouting out their names as they may have forgotten their lunch … the chaos of going back to school has officially began.

Curro Krugersdorp Primary School in Rangeview, like many others, welcomed parents and, more importantly their VIPs – the 2023 Grade 1 learners – on Tuesday morning, January 10.

With smiles bigger than their oversized school shirts, it is clear that they had very little sleep because everyone was super excited to see what is in store for them on the very first day of the new school year.

Grade 1 teacher Clair Mioch said she remarkably had one Grade 1 learner only who shed a few tears.

“He cried earlier on but now he has completely forgotten about that,” she said.

While the little ones (including the Grade RR, R and 1) started the new school year on January 10, they will be joined by the rest of the school on January 11.

Dineo Masoeu added that she is excited to be in Grade 1 because her mom bought her stationary and is something she wants to try out while Ammara Durrel is mostly excited to meet teachers and play with friends.

Fellow classmate, Daniel Harwood, was excited to be in Grade 1 because he said that she’s super smart.
