It’s all systems go for the 2024 academic year: Apply your child now!

Five steps to follow when submitting Gauteng school applications (Grade 1s and 8s) for the 2024 academic year.

It’s all systems go for parents and guardians of learners whose little ones will be going to Grade 1 and Grade 8 in 2024. This was after the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) opened its online admissions system for the 2024 academic year on June 15.

This means that parents and guardians can get clicking on their cell phones or desktops to secure spaces for their children next year.

GDE spokesperson Steve Mabona explained how one can apply online.

You can do it on the phone, tablet or desktop. It is quite an easy app to navigate because there are five steps.

“After registering your credentials, it will take you to the next step until the 5th. You have seven days to upload documents so that we can finalise the application,” said Mabona.

Meanwhile, the department said the online platform for the 2024 academic year applications is expected to close on July 14.

According to Gauteng Department of Education MEC Matome Chiloane, they’ve successfully processed 60 000 applications within the first hour.

As of June 15, 161 407 Grade 1 and 8 applications were successfully processed by the 2024 online admissions system.”
