St Ursula’s School museum to open in 2024
St Ursula's School is aiming to have the opening of the museum as part of the school's 120th birthday celebrations in April next year.
What may seem like an empty space now, will soon turn into a room full of mementos representing the rich history of St Ursula’s School.
To celebrate their 120-year history, the school in Monument has officially announced that there is no better time to open a museum in 2024. Currently under construction, St Ursula educator Jaco Mattheyse said the completion date is April.

Jaco will oversee the construction of the museum which is currently being constructed at the high school premises.
“We felt that the building has such a rich history within the Krugersdorp community. It was a natural choice for the home of the museum and have we been planning the museum as well as its location for the past six years since the Ursuline Sisters moved to Laurus’s House situated in another building on the premises. This left us with the extra space we needed,” Jaco said.

The museum will contain a variety of modern artwork displaying The Ursulines, also known as the Order of Saint Ursula, the patron saints, St Ursula and St Angela Merici as well as the sister schools worldwide. There will also be more traditional historical artifacts and period rooms that portray the rich history of the school in Krugersdorp.

The art gallery will display a unique range of art as well as showcase a revolving exhibit of the learner’s own artworks.
