Curro Primary welcomes ‘a special bunch’ of Gr 1s
Curro Krugersdorp Primary School extended a warm welcome to all Grade One learners embarking on their educational journey with the Curro family in 2024.
It might be way too early to predict but Curro Krugersdorp Primary School believes that budding scientists, aspiring doctors and many professionals in various other fields started their first day of school on January 16.
On top of that, this year’s bunch of Grade Ones are considered special with Curro Krugersdorp Primary School marketer Amoryn Wright explaining that they are embarking on their educational journey during a time of rapid technological advancements.

“Our curriculum is designed to equip them with 21st-century skills, fostering creativity, collaboration, and independent thinking. The learners of 2024 will not only be learners but also pioneers in utilising future-focused technology as an integral part of their education.”

While every effort was made for a smooth start, the reality is that the first day of school can be overwhelming for some learners who are new to a school environment.
Asked how they made the Grade Ones feel more at home, Amoryn said, “Our game plan involved a carefully structured orientation program with dedicated staff and support systems in place to ensure that each child felt welcome, supported and safe. We focussed on creating a nurturing atmosphere that helps ease the transition from home to school.”

She further described the first day of the learners as a resounding success.
“The success is attributed to the seamless execution of our special approach where we believe in creating an environment where every learner matters. The positive and enthusiastic participation of both learners and teachers contributed to a vibrant and engaging atmosphere, setting a positive tone for the entire academic year.

“The new learners demonstrated resilience and adaptability on their first day. While it’s too early to predict specific future professions, our approach to education aims to foster a diverse range of skills. We envision these students developing into up-and-coming artists and experts in various fields yes. It’s also worth noting that our school is dedicated to equipping learners for jobs of the future that do not even exist yet. Our curriculum is designed to instill a foundation of critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability, preparing them to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. The focus is on nurturing their talents and providing a holistic education that goes beyond current job descriptions, encouraging them to be pioneers in emerging fields.”

Excitedly this year, Curro Primary had the pleasure of welcoming a single set of twins to the school community in Grade One. They are Hayley and Caitlyn Burrell.

Furthermore, the Head of Curro Krugersdorp Primary School principal Harry Bateman extended a warm welcome to all Grade One learners embarking on their educational journey with the Curro Krugersdorp family in 2024.

“We are dedicated to nurturing the intellectual curiosity and creativity of our learners, preparing them to thrive in an ever-evolving world. We look forward to an exciting and enriching academic year ahead. I want to reassure parents that children are resilient and, with the support of our dedicated teachers, will mostly adapt smoothly to their new academic environment.”
