Glitzy students take centre stage

UniCollege recently announced its Mr and Miss UniCollege for 2024.

The much-anticipated annual Mr and Miss UniCollege pageant took centre stage at Silverstar recently.

With an audience of 450 cheering on their favourite contestants, the event has been described as glitzy with a masquerade theme that shone a spotlight on the talents, style and unique personalities of each student.

According to campus manager Jackie Loots, the pageant presented a unique opportunity for the contestants to become proud ambassadors for the college, nurture their self-confidence, conquer their fears and believe in themselves.

“This competition is a celebration of individuality, talent and teamwork within the student community. It serves as a platform for students to express themselves, showcase their talents and aim for prestigious titles. UniCollege continues to prove itself as a leading educational institution, providing not only top-tier academic training but also offering students opportunities to shine outside the classroom,” Jackie said.

She added the pageant is a shining example of how the college fosters a well-rounded experience, emphasising both personal growth and community spirit. Adding to the magic of the evening was the incredible musical talent of Dylan Emslie (from the band Jan Jan Jan) and Rohan Booysen, who delivered stunning performances throughout the night.

Jackie added the competition was fierce and the talent and poise displayed by each contestant left the judges with difficult decisions. The esteemed panel included Nelius du Preez, Marika Opperman, Riaan AG Beeslaar, Marisa Romanelli and Antoinette Modise, all of whom brought their expertise and discerning eye to crown the winners. By the end of the night, new stars emerged, holding the titles of Mr and Miss UniCollege 2024.

The crown for Miss UniCollege 2024 went to the radiant Robyn Raadt, who also took home the title of Miss Personality, proving her popularity among both the judges and her peers. On the men’s side, Joshua van Ginkel claimed the prestigious title of Mr UniCollege 2024, marking him as a strong ambassador for the institution in the coming year.
