Mayor kick-starts Back To School Programme

The municipality and other government departments kick-started the Back To School Programme at several schools in Mogale.

Mogale City Executive Mayor Lucky Sele took time out of his busy schedule to reach out to the learners of Mandisa Shiceka School of Specialisation and Thuto Pele Secondary School.

The aim was to welcome them back and engage in a community outreach initiative that is part of the Back to School Programme by the Department of Education and the Gauteng Legislature.

According to Sele, the campaign seeks to inspire learners to stay in school irrespective of their socio-economic circumstances and provide the required material resources that will enable them to receive the best possible education. The initiative also aims to assess the school’s readiness for teaching and learning and to encourage learners to prioritise education to transform their lives for the better.

“The Gauteng Legislature Speaker, Morakane Mosupyoe, and myself flanked by our dedicated MMCs kick-started the Back To School Programme at several schools in the municipality, the day was filled with excitement and enthusiasm from learners, teachers and the school governing body, we took time to visit the school and asses them on how they can improve their facilities which gives a chance to assist them in how they can improve their service to students in the communities,” Sele said.
