The atmosphere was electric, with packed stands and intense action that had supporters on the edge of their seats throughout the finals of the Golden Lions Schools Rugby League, recently held at Hoërskool Florida.
Coming out on top and crowned champions was Curro Krugersdorp Primary School’s U10 side, who beat Boskop Primary School 22–12.
Led by their coach Kelvin Bekker, the U10 rugby team delivered a season of unforgettable performances, culminating in a final match that showcased their skill, unity and determination.
According to the head of sports at Curro Primary, Lambert Louw, this is a proud moment for the boys, coaches, and supporters.
“This win reflects the hard work, heart, and teamwork shown throughout the season,” he said proudly.
Bekker added that the boys pulled together and showed great character and determination.
“They can be very proud of their achievements. We also thank the parents and the community for their support in the team’s success,” he said.
Also deserving of recognition are the U9 boys, who fought valiantly to the finals under the guidance of their coaches. Though they narrowly missed the top spot, they walk away as proud league runners-up, having shown incredible heart and determination.
“The Curro Krugersdorp community is beaming with pride, and celebrations are set to continue during the winter break after a successful season,” Louw concluded.
