Pro-Practicum celebrates learners at Mandela Festival
With the theme 'It Takes Your Hands to Make a Difference', the Boltonia school partnered with sponsors to dedicate a special day to celebrating and inspiring its learners.
Pro-Practicum School, a school for learners with special educational needs, treated its learners to a special Mandela Festival on July 24.
According to acting deputy principal Chanel Harmse, the school hosts the annual event to give back to its learners, with this year’s festival being the biggest yet.
“We dedicated the entire day to our learners by partnering with sponsors to spoil them,” she said.
Learners enjoyed dance performances, pies, hygiene products and other gifts donated by sponsors.
“We came together as South Africans through dance, shared a meal and delivered an inspiring message.”
The theme for the day was ‘It Takes Your Hands to Make a Difference’. Harmse said the message encouraged learners to believe they can make a positive difference in their own lives, regardless of their past or personal circumstances.
“The school prepares learners for blue-collar careers, and events like these help build positive relationships and encourage a sense of belonging. We hope our learners leave inspired because it only takes one person to make a difference,” she concluded.
