Happiness is priceless.
Because of the value of happiness we should guard against the things that would want to deprive us of this priceless gift.
One of the greatest enemies of happiness is unforgiveness. I deal with many people from all walks of life and I am shocked at the amount and intensity of unforgiveness in people’s hearts – an ex-business partner, an ex-spouse, even parents and siblings.
It is a harsh word, but many people carry hatred for other people.
No, don’t be so religious. Yes, even deeply religious people are guilty of gross unforgiveness.
As you read this article, it may be that a name or a face has just flashed through your mind. Forgive that person right now. Hatred, unforgiveness and even thoughts of revenge are choices. Now choose to forgive.
This emotion of hatred we carry around in us is robbing us of a priceless gift from God – happiness.
Forgiveness is not an unselfish act, forgiveness can be selfish. By forgiving that person you free yourself from a heavy load.
PS: “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those that have sinned against us.”
Forgiveness is a choice!
