I concur with the letter written Pay back the money Mogale municipality, which featured in the 28 November edition of the news.

In addition, if the Mogale City Municipality actually does the following few simple things that we as ratepayers actually pay for, maybe then you can increase your rates.

• Answer the telephones. The phone just rings and when it is answered you are cut off. The news did investigate and it was said it would improve – it is three months later and nothing has changed; in fact it is worse than before.

• Give us a constant electricity supply. Noordheuwel Extension 4 has been subject to more power outages than most other parts in the past two months. Subsequent to this we now find out our tariffs are the most expensive, yet no communication or statement from the “puppets” themselves – I wonder who they plan to blame for this one?

• Water. We have had endless problems with water supply this year and it was one story or lie after the other.

• Refuse removal. As usual the staff is standing at the gate asking for Christmas boxes. They have a cheek since we pay for the service and have to endure the dustbin diggers and barking dogs until they arrive.

• Proper billing service. While admittedly not as bad as City of Joburg, it seems they have lost huge amounts of our taxpayers’ money due to legal cases and yet they still have the audacity to backdate the valuation increases because of someone’s incompetence.

Really, our municipality is a circus and beyond a joke.

At Caxton, every story is written by humans. We use AI only to perform quality checks - never to generate the news. Happy reading!
