Fed up with being ripped off

Carol from Krugersdorp North writes:

As a resident of Krugersdorp North I have been receiving a ridiculously high bill from Mogale City every month.

I’ve been to the municipal offices on numerous occasions to query it. I was told that this is the correct bill and if not paid within three days, services to our property will be switched off so I complied and paid all amounts in full.

The first week of January I received a notice to terminate services within seven days/ final demand. When I did visit their office I found to my surprise it was for December and January as they stated.

When I asked how they could charge me for January they replied they estimated the bill. I can’t understand where the estimation comes from as the meter box is outside on the roadside. Why is it not being read every month?

My neighbours have double the number of people in their house and a flat at the back, and their electricity bill comes to around 40 per cent of my bill.

We don’t receive statements for consumption and when I asked why, they said because of the Post Office strike. But it’s funny how the final demand makes its way to my door … hand-delivered.

Mogale City is really ripping me off and when I asked them to come and check if my meter is faulty, they replied, “We can not do that.”
