Dog owners need to be aware

Yvonne from Kenmare writes:

I am writing this letter because I don’t want anyone else to experience this trauma.

Beware pet owners living in the Kenmare, Silverfields and Ruimsig area going for walks with their pets in the park between Roodekrans Drive and Skreen Street.

There is an irresponsible pet owner allowing a vicious killer St Bernard dog to roam freely around, attacking and killing little dogs, biting bigger dogs and chasing people.

Early in February I took my two little dogs, a Daxie and a cross Daxie for a walk in the above mentioned park. I met my son-in-law at the park and he was walking his Labrador.

We had just greeted one another when the St Bernard appeared and chased my Daxie and mauled him. My son-in-law tried to stop him but he would not let go of my doggie.

Eventually he let him go and ran away. The vets tried to save my doggy’s life but unfortunately he died three days later. His lung, ribs and whole left side was mince meat.

Another woman had a similar experience with her Jack Russel, fortunately the vet could fix him up as no vital organs were damaged.

This matter has been reported to the police and my lawyer is suing the irresponsible pet owners for financial damages.
