“Does anybody still remembered those two powerful letters Master Push had written to the news on 3 November 2012 with headline Local government crippled service delivery?
“On 1 March 2013 the news published another letter written by Master Push titled Megalomaniac,” said David Sebogodi a member of Chief Mogale Community Forum during their meeting.
These two important letters were mentioned specifically because they received very serious attention from the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA).
The letters also forced the Public Service and Administration portfolio committee the cabinet had appointed to approve a memorandum on security vetting of officials.
Master Push said the late Minister of Public Service and Administration Collins Chabane had issued a similar directive dealing with qualifications prior to filling a post. This showed how powerful the news is. May his soul rest in peace.
The Department revealed its recent statistics in response to Master Push’s letters.
The DPSA said of the 28 562 qualification verifications completed by the Qualification Authority (Saqa) last year alone, 640 were found to be either fraudulent or a misrepresentation. A total of 30 018 records were received.
Of 41 national departments, 40 departments including provincial and local government utilised Saqa to verify qualifications prior to employment, Master Push told Chief Mogale Community Forum and United Front.
The crowd applauded loudly when Master Push said cadre deployment, the controversial policy of the ruling party of parachuting its members into government positions, may soon be a thing of the past. People shall or should know that embellishing one’s CV with fraudulent academic qualifications is illegal.
