I’m alarmed reading about two more deaths at Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital.
Every now and then we read of another death that is ‘unfortunate’ while the hospital followed procedures and whatnot. I work in an environment where people follow procedures and do their job right – technically – but gives a poor or wrong result.
It is very difficult to pinpoint the problem or culprit hiding behind processes and procedures. Their reason this happens is that there is no one standing back and looking at the big picture … it could be that no one wants that responsibility, it could be that no one is competent to do it.
Whatever the case, in this matter someone should review the hospital’s items in the newspaper for the past 10 years. This may illustrate a worrying trend …
As a reader, I’m disinclined to go there for treatment and, as I continue to remember the articles I’ve read in the past. I won’t see this facility as a hospital but as a rural clinic. At best.
