Earlier this year the News published an article regarding the mayhem of the traffic intersection on Robert Broom Drive and the Norden and Swanevelder Street crossing.
The News stated they would have someone look into the situation there and to date there has been no feedback.
Earlier in August there was loadshedding and hallelujah, the robot at that intersection was out and I left home at my usual time and reached work earlier than usual and so did the children at school.
As previously stated, the timer for traffic turning into Robert Broom from Norden and Swanevelder should be increased and a compulsory green turning arrow should be there as traffic moves across Swanevelder to Norden and vice versa. Traffic that actually gets a chance to turn into Robert Broom do so on orange or when the robot just turned red.
If the timer for traffic turning into Robert Broom is increased it will eliminate traffic going straight on Robert Broom from stalling at the green robot as the traffic is backed up and if they do cross they sometimes end up being in the middle of the road, creating havoc for traffic turning into Robert Broom or crossing over to Norden and Swanevelder.
I am certain many motorists have had this experience of turning into Robert Broom faster from Norden and Swanevelder when the robot is out.
Whoever is responsible for that robot should investigate the traffic flow and timer of the robot.
