I wonder if you ever said, “Why did that happen to me?” You may reason, “I go to church, read my Bible and pray every day. Why me?”
We like to label things.
Winning the Lotto gets the label, “good thing”. Losing my job, “bad thing”. As a keen rugby nation, losing against Japan was a “bad thing”.
In reality it may have been a good thing. Losing that game led us to relook our team composition and our game plan. The next Saturday was a different ball game.
In life we all experience defeats, setbacks, “bad things”. This may be a perfect opportunity to refocus our lives.
God is a God of second chances, new beginnings and fresh starts.
As I look back over my life I appreciate the many things I thought were bad that actually turned out to be good.
If South Africa win the 2015 Rugby World Cup, we may have to thank Japan.
PS. Rom 8:28: “We know that in all things God works for the good of those that love him” (all things).
