With the increasing traffic volumes on Hendrik Potgieter Road and the dangerous intersection at Pinehaven, I really thought the engineers would consider better planning at the entrance/ exit at Silverstar.
Should a highway be built at the Pinehaven intersection, traffic still would need to stop at the traffic light at the casino. Was this good planning?
Another traffic problem is the Robert Broom Drive and Van Oordt Street intersection. During peak hours it is a real nightmare, and I think road users all would appreciate the erection of traffic lights at this intersection.
Jacqui Mabuza, Communications Manager of Silverstar responds:
Silverstar noted the situation as it became worse following recent road changes. Silverstar took the initiative to raise the matter regarding the same traffic light in front of the casino with the relevant authorities. Various enhancements have been done in late 2015 on this traffic light that improved the flow of traffic. The road and design is controlled and owned by authorities and not by Silverstar.
