The 2016 municipal elections may be one of the most important municipal elections since 1994.
Our beloved country has suffered long enough under mismanaged and dysfunctional municipalities that neglects its most basic responsibilities to all its citizens. Almost 25 million eligible voters will vote for different parties for different reasons.
However, will the 2016 elections be another one driven by emotions and misplaced/ abused loyalty, or has the time finally come for South Africans to embrace their responsibility to make informed decisions for the greater good of all society?
I encourage every citizen to exercise their privilege to vote. We cannot allow the failed status quo to continue, however, we cannot cast a vote for any party just for the sake of change or unrealistic promises.
