To the four guys in a silver Pathfinder on the evening of 6 April. You were in a parking bay in front of the shops on 4th Street in Krugersdorp North, it was raining softly and the time was approximately 6.15pm. I was on my white Gomoto Citi scooter on my way to work. I’m a nurse at the private hospital and I am a very cautious driver.
I didn’t travel fast and was extra cautious due to the road conditions, but you came out of the parking without looking and turned right in front of me. As I landed on the road, you and one of your cronies bravely jumped from your double-cab bakkie just to swear at me that I was driving like a lunatic. When you saw I was a white female, your eyes doubled in size and you did the bravest of all brave things – you freaking jumped back into your vehicle and drove off without even spending a minute to help me or offer any support! People in the area as well as the lovely staff of the shop came to my rescue. Thanks to all who did assist me on that dreadful day. I have been admitted to hospital twice since the accident and by the grace of the God have no fractures, but my nightmares are still not over. I might lose my right leg in this ordeal.
I don’t know for how long I might be off from work, I am taking every day as it comes. I just want to ask, how would you feel if your mother, aunt, sister or girlfriend were at the receiving end?
Would you have accepted the cowardly action you have shown to me? I might be unknown to you, and you don’t “worry” about that night any more, but believe me, somewhere, somehow, karma will pay you a visit.
Don’t ask why when it does …
