Sanco blames speeding, negligent driving and DUI

Raliphi Master Push Xolelizwe from Kagiso writes:

The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) in the West Rand region has expressed concern at the high death toll caused by road crashes as traffic volumes on major roads increase, even before a long weekend.

Many people have lost their lives on both national and provincial roads since the start of holidays.

On 29 April, 15 people died in a horrific accident on the R41 in Randfontein. SANCO leaders suspect the accident was the result of a taxi swerving into an oncoming truck. The drivers of both vehicles are among the deceased.

Sad, sad, sad. What a dark day for the families and community who lost such promising lives in this tragedy.

The SANCO Mogale City sub-region also reacted in shock. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who died, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery.

SANCO blames speeding, negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol for these accidents, and appeals to all road users to comply with the rules of the road, instead of pretending to comply only when they see a blue light.
