I would like to comment on the fact that young people are being encouraged to beg at robots for school tours, matric dance dresses and so forth.
We live in an age where almost every street corner has a beggar of some sort, adding to the stress of drivers passing by, due to the risk of crime.
Many end up there because of bad circumstances or poor choices they’ve made throughout their lives. Work is scarce in the current economic climate, leaving many no choice but to beg; however, this is an adult choice.
Begging should be illegal for children – society and government should be taking care of them.
Youngsters should be taught that nothing comes for nothing and the sooner they learn to stop sticking their hands out in expectation, the better they will cope in their lives to follow.
Let them find a project to work on and sell, or a service to offer the public, so that they can learn to earn their keep.
I believe the resourcefulness of the youth could stimulate the economy, and result in everybody being a winner in the long run.
