The African National Congress (ANC) West Rand Region hereby wishes to congratulate and heartily welcome all our new ward councillor candidates across the West Rand who will represent the people’s organisation as we embark on the upcoming local government elections.
Consistent with our guidelines on the selection of candidates, the ANC has nominated seasoned comrades who are influential in local communities and recognised as leaders in their own right. They will use their skills, experience and track record in the movement to take the programme of our beloved organisation forward as we advance the interests of communities on the West Rand.
The ANC West Rand is indeed confident that our selection process was truly an expression of the will of the people as it ensured that the candidates reflect society in the form of gender balance, youth, and people with disabilities in terms of its representation. Furthermore, true to the society we seek to build, both ward and PR candidates reflect our commitment to a non-racial region.
We take note and also wish to thank all Branch Executive Committees, Screening Committees, Selection Committees, branch membership and the communities of the various wards for displaying the utmost discipline, commitment and dedication throughout, thus ensuring that the process was transparent, democratic, credible and free of unethical practices whilst essentially reflecting the wishes of our people in the various localities across our region.
As we embark on the final straight of our election campaign, the ANC West Rand calls upon all our members to rally around and support our candidates and mobilise communities in the various wards across the West Rand to ensure a decisive victory for the ANC on 3 August.
We say to our candidates, the ANC remains filled with motivation and determined resolve to deliver optimal services in the various localities and ensure that local government works better for all our people. Your leadership is paramount as we embark on an actionable future for local communities on the West Rand, based on the will of the people.
Indeed, this is the year of Advancing People’s Power – Local Government is in your hands.
