The DA of Mogale City wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the voters who cast their ballots earlier this month in support of the DA in the local government elections, despite appalling weather conditions.
The DA received 42 000 votes in the municipality, winning 11 wards and clinching 16 positions on the party list.
The high DA turnout resulted in a favourable differential, giving the DA the highest number of proportional representatives in council.
The party also conveys its gratitude to the teams of DA activists as well as the candidates who reported for duty in below zero temperatures on Wednesday morning, in order to man the voting stations. It also thanks those who oversaw the counting process, which continued into the early hours of Thursday morning.
The DA also extends its thanks to Roy Harris, the election organiser, for spearheading the DA’s election campaign in Mogale City. Roy has now retired from his role as DA councillor, after serving at the forefront of West Rand politics for many years.
We wish him and his wife, Wendy, a well-deserved rest.
