So the ANC has said that it will ensure that municipalities it does not control will become ungovernable.
That’s fine. All council meetings are recorded, so when it comes to campaign time for the general elections, the DA and EFF will have proof of how the ANC, out of spite, stopped them from improving the lives of their constituents by refusing to pass any legislation that would have done so.
Bribery and corruption can only take place if you are in power. Is this the reason why the ANC is so upset about losing control of the municipalities?
It is time that councillors realise that being voted into power does not mean getting a fat salary while doing nothing to improve the lives of the people who voted for them.
Good luck to the DA, EFF, and the smaller parties. You have proved for the first time that true democracy can work in Africa, and that there is another way of government besides a one-party state or a dictatorship.
