I feel that the powers that be at Mogale City and the commander of the Krugersdorp Police Station should be given the opportunity to explain their stance on the issue of the noise that emanated from Coronation Park this past weekend, and indeed, other times in the past.
Rather than trying to delve into the laws and by-laws pertaining to this matter myself, I am sure the relevant authorities have a far better knowledge and understanding thereof.
I understand that permission is required from the Council, and if granted, a permit is issued to host the function. I am sure that conditions are attached, such as noise levels, duration (time) for which the permit is valid etc.
What I do not understand is how this past weekend’s function was allowed to carry on until 3am on Sunday morning with the sound system at what seemed to be maximum volume, seeing that I live some kilometres from the venue. I know that it was 3am because only then was I able to sleep!
If a permit is issued, are the police absolved from getting involved, despite getting complaints from the public ?
Should the local authorities decline to comment, perhaps the Gauteng Legislature and/ or the SAPS Area Commissioner could advise?
