Very disappointed in Mogale City

Astounded we are. Is this why we voted for the DA? Messages were left at the mayor’s office but no courtesy was afforded us with a return call.

On 30 September the municipality trimmed the trees in our area, which is totally acceptable as they could interfere with the electrical cables and street lights, but as is evident from the attached photos they butchered the trees in the front of our yard and left only short stumps.

The reason for this could not be provided. Why trim the trees in other areas and then butcher ours?

The municipality thereafter made a very poor attempt to clear the area. They scraped the grass cover, leaving patches everywhere.

These trees have, all the years, offered wonderful shade for the Monument High School children in the hot summer months – many children wait for hours to be fetched from school. These trees provided the children the relief of a quiet little area where they could relax on the lawn under the shade of the trees which have now been butchered.

Sadly no thought was given to the consequences that the reckless butchering of the trees would create. Sadly the DA has failed to provide what we had hoped to receive from them, i.e. being hands-on to the community concerns.

Who knows whether the children will bother doing their homework in the peace and quiet of trees away from the school grounds now?
