In response to Anonymous’ letter in the 25 November edition of the News about the neighbour’s barking dog:
This is a solution that was reported in the local paper in Durban with great glee. It must be pointed out that the person involved obviously had the money or facilities to do what he did.
The neighbour warned his other neighbours that the next week would be difficult but he guaranteed a solution.
The dogs’ incessant barking was taped for 3–4 hours.
With overhanging poles, the neighbour then strung a loudspeaker as close to his neighbours’ bedroom window as possible.
The tape was then replayed at 2am every morning for the next three days.
We have read how the Gautengers dealt with this, but in Durban they were able to solve the problem very quickly.
