I am rather unhappy and saddened by the lack of concern by the token vendors for Mogale City.
Firstly, they have a real ‘go to hell’ attitude; “I am not here to listen to your problems”.
When calling and after having been cut off four times by the same person, and having the woman getting upset with me because of her inefficiency, I explained that an old fart like myself actually does pay her salary. Me being the customer. Not her manager.
But here that counts for nothing. Here the customer is not even a number.
The problem started one Sunday afternoon. I was at a local shop getting some groceries. I also bought a water token for R200. Got my allocated 6 000 kilolitres at that time too.
On leaving the shop, my hands were full of ATM slips, slips from across the road at the bottle store, card payment slips, till payment slips and the water token slip. I got to my car and left, not realising that I had somehow managed to lose the water token slip.
I only realised this at about 8.30pm, after searching high and low.
The shop being closed by that time, I opted for plan B. I collected another R200 token and loaded it when I arrived home.
The following day, I chatted with André, at the shop. He promptly tried to do a reprint, to no avail. He was only able to retrieve the slip number, not the actual token.
This is what I can’t understand. André was kind enough to try see what could be done, even though he had no success. Eventually he suggested I try using the token’s reference number and report the problem.
Fourteen days have gone past.
The bottle store was of no help, stating that their system and the grocery store’s are not compatible.
Eventually it was decided that everyone should distance themselves from the matter, and it must become a Mogale problem.
I called Mogale … No, you have to go see them. I spent two hours there trying to get help, but nothing. No they can’t do anything.
Now please tell me, am I the only person in the town who has lost or misplaced a slip?
Am I the only over 60 person to act a bit crazy and lose things?
How can the vendor of the tokens with a million rand computer at its disposal not be able to track, trace, and reprint the slip?
We have the day, date, and time to the second when the transaction took place, but no assistance.
So, to all the older crazies – you all had better beware, you will not get any help from anyone.
Be prepared for a very long wait, and pulling the short straw.
