Mr Mayor – stop the visits and start working

Ashamed from Krugersdorp writes:

I agree with anonymous’ letter addressed to Dear Mayor Lipudi … When he is finished cuddling newborn babies, presenting free blankets, and visiting the oldies, all to gain votes for the ANC, and all his other fruitless and unnecessary show-offs, perhaps he can turn his undivided attention to much more valid, realistic and pressing issues than these, as nearly every week there are numerous complaints from citizens about the billing crisis, and the disgusting state of the slum town of Krugersdorp!

Just last week, Mogale contractors dumped a load of Final Demand notices for unpaid rates in our post box. Looking through them (as they are open and not in envelopes) we saw people owing the council R70 000, R65 000, R50 000 and even more. Just goes to show how relaxed and disordered the billing system is.

Every week we read of water leaks somewhere, grass not being cut for months and then people even suggesting Mogale get goats to eat the grass to keep it short, and a whole host of other complaints about this dilapidated, neglected, run down town of Krugersdorp, which is in need of a major overhaul and revamp that should include the interior of the grimy and grubby Town Hall.

Now we have another letter-writer, Thabile Mange, who keeps singing the praises of this wonderful, humble servant, Mayor Lipudi, who is a people’s person that spends valuable time visiting elderly people in and around Krugersdorp! We need a Mayor that will put projects and plans in action for improvements in the billing system, sewerage, water, and electricity services, upgrading of roads, and police, among many others.

My question to Thabile is: Why isn’t your wonderful Mayor showing the people of Krugersdorp how he can get the CBD cleaned and repaired, which would include the items mentioned above?

I can categorically state that not once has the municipality done anything constructive or productive for the citizens of Krugersdorp, so don’t boast about the clean audit they received without mentioning the three per cent bonus that was paid to one and all, over and above their salaries, which should never have been sanctioned or allowed. That extra money could have gone towards much more needed causes in Mogale such as to continue widening Robert Broom Drive, instead of in the ANC’s pockets!

Only once he has walked the talk by cleaning up the mess in Mogale and attending to the real issues citizens complain about, will we be able to praise him.
