Is municipality supporting lawlessness?

It is time we put South Africans first and make sure that residents who pay for services get the best services they deserve.

I believe that Mogale City is running the risk of becoming a lawless city. The majority of the people living in the squatter camps are illegal immigrants and it is worrisome that the City has allowed these residents to do as they please. They have connected their electricity illegally, the same way they crossed the borders into South Africa.

Some of these connections have been there for close to three years and the City has failed to act on the problem.

The Munsieville residents of Phatsima and Mayibuye have to log daily complaints because of electricity outages and nothing gets done. The electricity gets turned on but the next day they just have to call again.

I think it is time for the mayor and his team to take the paying Munsieville residents seriously.

Mogale City has to pay Eskom for electricity every month and the fact is that they are paying for electricity stolen by illegal immigrants.

I call on the ANC national government to do something about the number of people entering our country illegally. I also ask them to ensure that the Mogale City Local Municipality act against these illegal connections and make sure that all squatters get connected legally. I believe that all residents will happily pay for electricity if everyone has a legal connection.

It is time we put South Africans first and make sure that residents who pay for services get the best services they deserve.
