I was recently invited to the Marhaba Home School and Madressa fundraising event held in September in the Azaadville Park.
The principal, Fahmida Sujee Haffejee, her teaching staff and the Azaadville Cyclists host an event every year to raise funds for 17-year-old Muhammed,
who has cerebral palsy. The event included a cycle ride and a mini-maze race for children. There were also many delicious food stalls that drew large queues throughout the day.
I applaud and salute the sacrifice and effort the community makes whenever an organisation hosts an event in Azaadville. It is support of this nature that brings positive, measurable change to society. Solidarity is key in building a healthy community.
Congratulations, Marhaba Home School, for working toward making a difference in a child’s life. You are doing exactly what Diane Weisslender wrote – “changing the world, one child at a time”.
