What we don’t need in this poor economic climate is to have more job losses due to Mogale City’s inability to stop the bursting of water supply pipes.
The interruptions to a constant water supply at a reasonable pressure are having a devastating effect on my factory in Factoria.
This factory uses a cooling tower at a constant water pressure to cool equipment called ‘induction brazing machines’ (tungsten tips need to be brazed to steel).
A Swedish-based company in Factoria, which used a similar process, closed down in 2003 due to the effect that the interrupted water supply was having on their cooling towers and the subsequent loss of business. Two hundred and fifty employees lost their jobs. Some of those employees still phone me, looking for work.
The water supply to factories has been regularly interrupted for the past 15 years. I had to close down for two days due to the water supply issues and recently had to stop production on Monday and Wednesday as there was no water for my cooling tower.
This regular interruption of water supply affects the production of parts and then I cannot sell to my suppliers.
Must I close down my factory, as I cannot carry on like this?
Right now, if there is a fire in Factoria, the fire brigade will connect hoses to the fire hydrants but if there is no water, they will not be able to douse the fire.
Note that even if the water pressure seems to be acceptable, the flow rate from the hydrants will not be adequate to supply enough water to extinguish fires, due to several water pipes bursting on a daily basis.
Skilled engineers need to be brought in to find out why the water supply pipes are bursting at such an alarming rate.
