Would you send a journalist to the canal between Commissioner/ Wagen Streets and Rustenburg Road/ Naude Street please?
Maybe we can shame the municipality into doing something to clean up this area that is now becoming the new pigsty.
It is looking particularly bad at the moment as some factory further up the road has released polluted water into the canal and the stench is unbearable.
It would be interesting to know if the scrap dealer does anything to educate his suppliers.
You mentioned in a throwaway line that we should educate the ‘bin scavengers’. Do you have any ideas as to how this will be achieved? I don’t think they give a flying fig for their actions, and money is the only motivation.
