Maseko premiered his debut film, My Shame, earlier this month.
This low-budget movie tells a story of shame. The creator had no budget at all for the film. He had to dig deep in his own pocket to fund it. That’s how committed he was to the project. And it has come to fruition.
The My Shame creator is a self-taught filmmaker. He has no formal training of the craft. However, he has shot short films and music videos before. So, he has a bit of experience. More than that, he is driven by passion and love for the craft.
Maseko started as a photographer, taking photos for free. People loved his work and the demand for his service grew. He then started charging for his photographic service. He has since built a gallery of photos and is planning to exhibit his work soon.
A staunch Catholic, he has the ‘I can do’ attitude. He did not allow the lack of financial resources to stand between him and his passion of making his first film. He has also given the local actors a platform to showcase their talent.
I wish him all the best.
