‘Any help with traffic violations would be great’

Pedestrian from Noordheuwel writes:

This is an appeal, firstly to motorists to obey the rules of the road. No one stops at stop streets any more.

I have also seen drivers treating traffic lights as stop streets and sometimes ignoring the red lights totally.

Crossing a road is risking your life because people have no regard for rules and other road users. I have even been verbally abused for stopping at an orange light. I have also seen and experienced a traffic cop jumping a stop street near where she lives. It’s scary. No wonder the death toll on our roads is so high.

Secondly, I am asking for the police to do visible policing especially for moving violations.

Please start by monitoring stop streets, especially on Blouberg Street in Noordheuwel. Please begin at about 5am at Blouberg and Paarlberg Streets. It is absolutely life-threatening to try and cross the road at the intersection as the drivers on Blouberg Street seem to think that because it’s early, they can drive as if at Kyalami, without fear of any reprisals.

Then, can anything can be done about learners who race up and down the road on their motor bikes?

It’s unnecessary and dangerous for them and others. They are very deliberate and do it just to annoy anyone that asks them to behave.
