My husband’s motorcycle, a Kawasaki ZX10, was stolen in the early morning hours of Friday, 3 August, out of our garage in Wentworth Park.
The locks on both the small gate on our motorised gate and on the small side door of our garage have disappeared too.
They (and I say they because we found many footprints in the driveway and behind a bush at the front door) were so stealthy in breaking the locks and committing the theft that not even our neighbours’ dogs barked. They must be professionals, because of the mere logistics of getting the bike out of the garage, through the side door, maneuvering it around a car, down the driveway and out through the smaller gate of our motor gate without making a noise. The bike had to be turned and lifted at a few of these points and we couldn’t find any signs of scraping of the bike. One of these men had huge feet, so he was probably the ‘muscle’. A few small instances, interactions and possibilities led us to suspect certain neighbours.
I read on the News’ website of a similar bike theft in Mindalore, and feel that it is related to the same people, as it has the same modus operandi, although I have heard that there’s a group of boys in Mindalore stealing bikes.
Not just the bike was stolen – our patio chairs, some tools and bike parts were also taken. Not many people knew of the bike as we were new to the area and my husband had only taken it out and driven it to Mindalore and back to charge the battery about three times and he revved it inside the garage a few times. We have not heard anything from the police.
All we can do is keep checking the Internet.
