I am very disappointed in the manner in which the Mogale City municipality has handled the issue of the vacant municipal stands.
Ever since 2015, I have been waiting for the municipality to release stands to the public. Mogale City’s administration seems to be dragging its feet over this matter – the only time it was raised was the previous local government elections.
So I ask myself if maybe this is a canvassing tool for the ANC? It’s amazing to see vacant municipal land turned into rubbish dumps, when there is a church in need of land or people who could afford them living in places like Mshenguville. Releasing these stands is crucial to the community as it will eliminate illegal land invasions, curb illegal dumping and ease the burden of informal settlements.
The community of Mogale City needs to stand up and take a stand against the dishonest municipality, [but] the only way this is going to happen is when we raise our hands and say we have had enough of waiting.
I encourage residents of Mogale City, especially the youth, those living in backrooms and paying, and people who want to own and build houses for themselves to wake up.
