I have run out of things to do, so I might as well get this done.
I received an SMS from the Mogale City council, stating that even though we are in lockdown, we still have the responsibility to pay our rates and taxes, and failure to do so could result in getting cut off. Nice.
Now, this would be okay if we had a service provider that actually provided the services we pay for. But, since 1994, the municipality has failed to deliver on anything.
They have failed to pay for the services they receive from Eskom. They have abused access to our funds, and paid for water meters they never received (still don’t have mine after two years, nor the one for the business for which we paid R8 500 upfront).
You have only destroyed the resources that were here when you took over. Sewerage plant is ‘broken’. Municipal building is dilapidated to the extent that if this was a first-world country it would have been declared unfit for use! People who work there are for the most part, useless.
And now you want to threaten your citizens when they are on their knees!
Do you realise that it is those who voted you in who will be most affected? Turn off their water and lights, and see where that gets you! I’m betting there will be chaos at your offices. And, with the next elections, you won’t even feature.
If you had run the city as it was supposed to be run, we would have had no debt, and you have been in a position to render free services to those who would now need it the most. That would have bought you more votes than you could imagine.
Now you are in a position where you realise that the bottomless pit that you have been stealing from is about to run dry. Good luck with that.
