The government is prioritising the Covid-19 claims over any other UIF claim that was sent way in advance.
For example, my sister and I submitted our maternity UIF claims at the beginning of April.
After 35 days, as indicated by the UIF, nothing has been processed. I even spoke to a woman on Facebook who also confirmed it seems not to be a priority.
They need to remember that we pay UIF contributions monthly, and some people don’t have the luxury of getting a percentage [of their salaries] from companies while on maternity leave. Therefore they are relying on the UIF claim, which seems to have been shoved to the side.
