The coronavirus is ravaging and killing our nation at a very fast pace.
Every day, people die because of this virus. Every day, people are buried because of this pandemic. These are individuals we know and have lived with. May they rest in peace!
That said, there is a serious problem of compliance with regards to Covid-19 regulations by organisations, including government departments.
Companies hide Covid-19 cases from their employees. They also fail to decontaminate and sanitize, risking the precious lives of workers. Last week, a certain woman called me seeking advice regarding the company’s failure to comply with Covid-19 regulations.
She has comobirdities, one or more additional disorders co-occurring with a primary disease or disorder, and has declared them to her employer. However, she is being forced to work, regardless of her health condition. A day or so ago, another woman called regarding the same issue of non-compliance by the company she works for. She told me that employees who have tested positive are forced to work. They were only sent home after workers revolted and threatened work stoppage. The two above-mentioned women have reported the matter to the Departments of Health and of Labour but received no help. Instead, they were sent from pillar to post.
Now they don’t know what to do anymore. If companies continue doing what they are doing (disregarding Covid-19 regulations), people are going to die like ants, as they have already started. To save lives, there is a need for intervention.
Therefore, I urge the media to investigate the above cases and expose them.
